Altocumulus (Ac): They may be stable. In this case they are characterized by a gray or white layers form. They form elements shaped like pebbles, gills or rolls. They can be unstable. In this case, they are characterized by towering or fluffy clouds. This is a pre-storm situation.

Altostratus (As): They are often stable clouds, in layers. These shapes have a uniform aspect, leaving only a vaguely view of the sun.
