Low clouds (altitude lower at 6 000 fts)
Stratocumulus |
Stratus |
Stratocumulus (Sc): They are clouds due to turbulence in gray or whitish layers containing thicker and darker parts.
Stratus (St): They are stable clouds. They are very low and form a gray cloudy layer. Their bases are fuzzy and uniform. We often says that stratus clouds are similar to fog but not resting on the ground. In summer, in humid areas, we can see early morning stratus that vanishes in end before noon, when the overheating of grounds is sufficient to disperse them.
